Bradenton Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting

UPDATE 8:30 p.m.: The officer involved in the shooting has been identified as Officer Robert Marrero, an eight-year veteran of the Bradenton Police Department.

Bradenton, FL - The Bradenton Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred this afternoon in the 1400 block of 14th Street West.

According to preliminary reports, officers responded to a call of a suspicious person at a residence. When officers arrived on scene, they encountered a male subject who was armed with a firearm. The subject refused to drop the weapon and pointed it at the officers. Officers fired their weapons, striking the subject.

The subject was transported to a local hospital where he is currently undergoing surgery. His condition is unknown at this time.

No officers were injured in the incident. The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave per department policy.
